How can I travel to the Netherlands?

European attendees are highly encouraged to join us via train making use of the multiple rail connections across the region and keeping your participation as sustainable as possible. Get in touch with the Congress registration team to obtain a special rate code for travel with Eurostar*.

*This discount is only applicable for direct travel from/to London.

The official airline partners of the Congress provide an extensive network of flights; participants booking with these partners can enjoy discounts of up to 15%. Please note: flights arrive in Amsterdam from where you can get a direct train to Rotterdam Centraal.

Rotterdam Ahoy is excellently accessible by metro, tram and bus. From the bus and metro station Zuidplein, it takes only 5 minutes to walk to Ahoy! Where can I book accommodation?

The 26th World Energy Congress invites you to book your accommodation directly through the official agency of the Congress, RAI Hotel Services.

Please kindly note: RAI Hotel Services is the only official World Energy Congress 2024 accommodation agency. Other agencies that contact you first may be a scam.

 

Taxis

Rotterdam offers a wide range of taxi service providers. All of them are vetted and approved by the government, with inspectors visiting taxi companies or conducting roadside checks.

Parking

Rotterdam Ahoy is easy and safe to get to for cyclists. The venue offers (unattended) parking for bicycles, just outside the Ahoy complex. For those who are travelling by car, Rotterdam Ahoy is located just off the A15 motorway and has its own parking area with a capacity of 2,000 spaces.

 

What is there to do in Rotterdam?

Rotterdam offers a variety of activities that you can enjoy if you plan to extend your travel. For more information, please contact the Congress Website – Rotterdam page. Please note that if you are travelling with your significant other/partner, you can choose to purchase a registration for this person as well for an additional fee of € 100.00. They will be able to attend the opening and closing ceremonies of the Congress; the registration team can provide information on tours and other programmes that they can book during your stay in Rotterdam.

Opening Hours

Badge Printing

Shortly before the Congress, you will receive a QR code. To speed up the badge pick-up process at the congress, we kindly ask you to have your QR code at hand when entering the Congress registration area. To reduce printing, we advise saving the QR code on your mobile device instead of printing it.

In the registration area, go to the Self Service Stations, scan the barcode and print your badge. If you have not yet completed your payment, you can pay by credit card (VISA/MasterCard/AMEX). In case of a cash payment, please go to the Pre-Registration desk. All payments should be made in EUR (€), the official currency of the Congress.

Badge policy

It is required to wear your name badge clearly visible when attending any Congress-related activities. Please note that in case you lose your badge, you will be charged a €50 badge reprint fee. 

 

Cloakroom

A cloakroom is located in the Registration Area of the Congress. You can use this cloakroom to store your personal belongings, free of charge. For security reasons, all bags larger than a laptop bag must be handed in at the cloakroom. Please note that all bags are subject to random security checks, as part of the Congress security protocol. By handing your belongings to the cloakroom, you are agreeing to this security measure.

 

Exhibition Services Desk

Exhibitors are kindly advised to visit the Exhibition Services Desk, located in the Registration Area, for assistance with stand-related matters and to pick up scanners.

 

Translation

Partial translation will be available during the Congress via a dedicated app, which can be downloaded here. Please bring your phone and headphones to programme sessions to access the translation.

 

Mobile app

The Congress mobile app, sponsored by ENI, is available in the Apple Store and on Google Play and can be downloaded here. We highly recommend downloading the mobile app to enhance your Congress experience. If you wish to use the app to create a profile and network with other delegates, you can use access details, which will be sent to you in a separate e-mail.

 

Prayer room

Prayer rooms are available for use during Congress hours and are located in the Ahoy Plaza.

 

Charging stations

Need to recharge your batteries at the event? Use the bp pulse mobile charging lockers, located in the Registration Area and the Ahoy Plaza. The charging stations will be equipped with cables for iPhones, USB-C, and Micro USB. Please also visit the bp quiet zone in Foyer 2.1.

Kindly note that there are no breastfeeding facilities available on-site. We advise delegates who require such facilities to plan accordingly in advance.
