World Energy Congress takes place every two years in cities at the forefront of energy and energy transitions. World Energy Congress 2026 will take place 12–15 October 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The World Energy Council’s Executive Assembly will take place immediately prior, from 10–11 October 2026, for members of the World Energy Council community.

World Energy Congress 2026 in Riyadh is co-hosted by the World Energy Council and the Ministry of Energy of Saudi Arabia.

World Energy Congress 2026, the event’s 27th edition,  will take place under the theme ‘Inspiring Transformations, Delivering Transitions’, connecting the dots between the visionary thinking and practical action needed to deliver a future of more and better energy.

Speakers are not paid. As a registered not-for-profit organisation, the World Energy Council does not cover travel or accommodation expenses unless otherwise stated in the formal invitation.

World Energy Congress is the only truly inclusive and integrated world energy event, connecting and engaging the whole energy ecosystem. It is a trusted platform to showcase leadership, innovation and impact, shape the global energy agenda, and make the connections that matter. It is also the world’s longest-established energy event, backed by the World Energy Council’s independent and not-for-profit mandate.

Programme and Content

The World Energy Congress programme is developed in collaboration with the Council’s global network and the host country.

Under the theme ‘Inspiring Transformations, Delivering Transitions’, the programme connects the dots between visionary thinking and practical action that will deliver a future of more and better energy for all.

By putting people and communities at the heart of the global energy dialogue, the programme moves beyond a one-size-fits-all approach towards successful outcomes that are adopted and shaped by the needs of people and communities across regions, cultures, and industries.

Curated for impact, the programme features a mix of open sessions and invitation-only roundtables, providing the ideal space for exchanging practical wisdom and peer-to-peer learning.

The World Energy Congress programme champions diverse, inclusive and intergenerational voices, with over 350 speakers and facilitators drawn from a global community of visionaries including Ministers, CEOs, innovators, and young energy leaders.

Speakers at World Energy Congress contribute to a global dialogue shaping the future of energy. The programme brings together diverse leaders from across sectors, regions and generations to exchange practical insight and experience. Sessions are designed as curated discussions rather than individual presentations, encouraging meaningful exchange and shared learning.

World Energy Congress speakers are selected by the World Energy Council in collaboration with the host country and programme advisors. Selection aims to ensure diversity of geography, sector and expertise, in line with the Congress theme and programme pillars.

Speakers are invited to actively engage in discussion-based sessions, contribute practical insights, and participate in open, forward-looking dialogue that connects ambition with real-world action.
