World Energy Congress 2026 Builds Momentum with Baltic Dialogue in Riga, Latvia
Co-hosts of the 27th World Energy Congress - the Ministry of Energy of Saudi Arabia were represented in Riga, Latvia, for the Baltic region’s largest energy conference, joining leading policymakers and industry experts from across the Baltic states, the United States and Europe. The gathering advanced critical discussions on energy security, sustainability, and affordability, while charting practical pathways toward resilient long-term energy policy.
“Navigating Energy Pathways for the Baltic Sea Region” hosted by World Energy Council Latvia, the Ministry of Climate and Energy of Latvia, and University of Latvia convened leaders from across and beyond the World Energy Council community. The event served as a vibrant touchpoint on the road to the World Energy Congress 2026, taking place 12–15 October in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
A senior delegation from the Saudi Ministry of Energy, led by Dr Yasir Alturki, Chief Advisor to the Assistant Minister for Electricity Affairs, underscored the Kingdom’s commitment to international collaboration. During the conference, Dr Alturki formally invited the global energy community to participate in the 27th World Energy Congress, to be held under the theme “Inspiring Transformations, Delivering Transitions.”
For more than a century, the Congress has served as the world’s premier platform for strategic dialogue and cooperation on energy. Riyadh 2026 will continue this legacy, convening governments, industry leaders, innovators, and experts to address the structural shifts reshaping global energy systems and to accelerate practical solutions for a secure, sustainable, and inclusive energy future.
Aligned with national transformation priorities, the Congress will spotlight progress across the energy value chain from large-scale renewable deployment and clean hydrogen development to digital innovation, energy efficiency, and carbon capture technologies alongside integrated approaches to energy security and sustainability.
As momentum builds toward October 2026, the Riga conference highlighted the growing importance of regional dialogue in shaping global outcomes. A formal invitation has been extended to all World Energy Council Member Committees and stakeholders to contribute to this milestone event, as the global energy community prepares to gather in Riyadh to inspire transformations and deliver transitions together.
